Aviators go out with a Bang

Lunch at Millers Barbecue, dinner at the Chicken Shack, then off to Robstown for the final Aviators game of the season. Here's a short and somewhat unintelligable audio report from the game.

It must have been crazy mascot night at the stadium, much to the dismay of little cousin Cody (is there a scientific name for kids who are afraid of sports mascots?). The Aviators original mascot "Ace the Aviator" was joined by a blue dog, a green bunny, a "hairy man", an Elmo look-alike, an unidentifiable something-or-other, and a big round monster that looked like it came straight out of "Where the Wild Things Are." The latter was the funniest of the group as it tried to eat one of the batboys but was successful only in ingesting his hat and helmet (which he later spit out). The monster also got a big laugh when it squatted on the field and left a little nest of three baseballs. When they announced the "Mascot Race" in which a fan gets to race around the bases against one (in this case three) of the mascots, Cody said "I hope I didn't sign up for that!"
