Football!

Thursday, September 11, 2003 -- Aside from being the second anniversary of the "911 Attacks," today gave us our first taste of Jr. High football. Zach's 7th grade team got clobbered by their Taft counterparts, losing the game 28-0. The 8th grade team promptly exacted revenge on the Greyhounds by beating them 30-8. Both boys played well. Zach was the first Bobcat to run the ball when the opening kickoff bounced right in front of him. He ended the night with two kickoff returns and 7 or 8 tackles. Joshua started at tackle on offense and got in one tackle when he subbed in for a few plays at linebacker. "Did you see me tackle that guy? I picked him up off the ground." Uncle Bubba showed up for the games, as did Cathi's parents, and Grandma who rode up with us. Bubba was impressed by the 8th grade team and commented that Josh should be proud just to be a starter on a team with so many good players.
