Annoying the children, one day at a time.

The horseshoe was for luck

Wednesday, December 31, 2003 --Angie & Johnny's truck came in handy today. Cathi's grandparents are moving into one of those new upscale retirement apartments and are letting us take their relatively new washer and dryer. The boys and I had quite an adventure driving the truck into Corpus. The driver's side door doesn't quite close so there is a constant rushing-of-air noise. That, coupled with a cracked rear view mirror (is that one truck or three?) and an always-on "Check Engine Now" warning light, made for a suspensful trip. About halfway to Sinton I asked the boys "Didn't Johnny say something about this thing having no brakes?" Despite our worries, we made it safely to Corpus. I thought the horseshoe tied to the back tailgate was for good luck until we realized it was tied into the cables releasing the latch. We yanked on it a good two or three minutes before Joshua gave the tailgate a good kick and was hit in the knee when it unexpectedly opened. We spent News Year's with Cathi's parents this year despite uncle Bubba's invitation to join him at Northshore Country Club (we promise we'll go next year!). The boys had a good time drinking non-alcoholic champaign and staying up past their bedtimes.
