Bubba and Angie "Represent"

Friday, January 5, 2007 -- Sister Angie and brother Bubba both played in this evening's Skidmore-Tynan Alumni basketball games. To Angie's credit, she looked just like all the other girls out there - most of whom were only a year or two out of high school. Cathi didn't even notice she was on the court when we first walked into the gymnasium. In a strategy that caused considerable consternation among fans, coach Grimes had the varsity girls run a full court press on the old ladies... I mean the girls alumnus team during the first half. The alumnus coach, Tim Stowe, did his part by subbing the ladies out every two minutes in the second half (instead of the four minutes they had struggled through in the first). Aunt Angie vows to return next year "in better shape."

In the boys game, uncle Bubba wasted no time shooting a 3 pointer that ricocheted around the center of the rim before bouncing clear of the basket. Alas, no Petrus scored in either of the night's games. We did however have the honor of being the earliest graduates (Angie 1975 and Bubba 1965). Uncle Ronnie had planned to play too but decided against it, telling everyone "I'm going to wait until I'm older."
