Jeanne Crusemann Daniels would not approve
Saturday, January 5, 2008 -- With the family in Corpus, I've been eating like a king. Yesterday, I fried calf liver with scrambled eggs. Today, I expanded the menu to calf liver, scrambled eggs, and fried green tomatoes – of which I have plenty since the latest freeze finally succeeded in murdering the plants from which they tenaciously clung. Doing the math, that's four slices of liver for $2.50 (I chose the more expensive calf liver over regular beef liver in the hope it would somehow be freer of accumulated toxins) or 62 cents per meal with half left over for Piglet who shares my appreciation for the finer organ meats.
